With reference to your Despatch No. 461 of the 19th December last, I have the honour to inform you that the charge of manslaughter against Sergeant Lee was not proceeded with, as it was evident to the Attorney-General that the death of Mr. William MacGregor was the result of an unfortunate accident. Sergeant Lee will no doubt express to the family of the deceased his acknowledgments of the sympathetic and generous action taken by them.

I transmit herewith, as requested, a formal Certificate of Mr. MacGregor's death.
